Republicans: BUSINESS SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE BASED ON SINCERELY HELD BELIEFS!
Business: Get out.
Republicans: No. See. Ha ha. Not ME. You can’t discriminate against ME. That’s not what I … You can’t refuse ME! I meant those OTHER people! It’s not fair!
It seems Sarah Huckabee Sanders got refused service last night, and tossed out of a restaurant.
The Red Hen, a Lexington eatery, refused to serve her — because she works for Donald Trump — and asked her to leave. She did. Then she ran home and complained about it on Twitter. This morning, conservatives like her dad — Governor Reverend Supreme Bestest American Christian Mike Huckabee, who spent his morning making racist comments on Twitter — are outraged. Livid. Incensed.
How dare a business refuse service to … well, a white Christian Republican? How dare they?
Honestly, I don’t understand the complaint.
I don’t.
I would think Mike Huckabee would be thrilled.
I would think Sarah Sanders would be jubilant.
I would think Donald Trump himself would tweet praise for the restaurant.
I mean, isn’t THIS what they wanted?
Isn’t THIS the America Republicans wanted?
Isn’t THIS the America Christian conservatives wanted?
Isn’t this — this right here — WHY conservatives and Christians voted for Trump?
Well, isn’t it?
Isn’t this exactly what they wanted? For business to have the right to discriminate based on “sincerely held beliefs?” Isn’t THIS right here what they were all crowing about last week? Proclaiming victory for freedom after last week’s Supreme Court decision, when they claimed vindication for those Christian baker who refused to serve a gay couple?
Well?
Isn’t this EXACTLY what they wanted?
It seems they got it.
They got exactly what they wanted.
Fucking hurts when it happens to YOU though, doesn’t it?
They got what they wanted.
NOW, they’re going to get what they deserve.|

Some of you have misunderstood my comments.
I think what happened to Sanders is a shitty damned deal. I honestly think it’s awful.
I think Sanders should be able to go into any restaurant she likes and enjoy her meal in peace without conflict, attack, or persecution. And I think as a paying customer she deserves prompt, courteous service.
But, see, that’s the thing, people like Sanders think that ONLY people like Sanders should have that right.
I think EVERYBODY should.

The owner of the Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, Virginia explained why she ejected White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders from the establishment on Friday evening.
Speaking with The Washington Post, owner Stephanie Wilkinson acknowledged that she may have threatened the economic health of her small business with her principled stand, but said she would do it again.
“I’m not a huge fan of confrontation,” Wilkinson said. “I have a business, and I want the business to thrive. This feels like the moment in our democracy when people have to make uncomfortable actions and decisions to uphold their morals.”
Wilkinson recounted how she was at home when she got a call informing her that Sanders was dining at the Red Hen, under a reservation made in her husband’s name. She raced to the business to investigate.
Wilkinson explained that she queried her employees about what to do, knowing several employees were gay and all the staff had all watched the press secretary evade questions while defending Trump’s border separation policy.
“Tell me what you want me to do. I can ask her to leave,” she told her employees. “They said yes.”
The owner politely asked Sanders to step out on the patio “for a word.”
“I was babbling a little, but I got my point across in a polite and direct fashion,” Wilkinson said. “I explained that the restaurant has certain standards that I feel it has to uphold, such as honesty, and compassion, and cooperation.”
After explaining her reasoning, she said, “I’d like to ask you to leave.”
Sanders stepped back inside to collect her belongings, then left the establishment, later complaining about her ejection on Twitter.
“We just felt there are moments in time when people need to live their convictions,” the owner explained. “This appeared to be one.”
Despite the backlash from Trump supporters, Wilkinson seems unworried.
“Whatever happens, we will soldier on,” Wilkinson said. “Absolutely, yes, I would have done the same thing again.”

(I’m guessing that maybe the restraunt owner felt that if Sanders ate a piece if salad/cake from her business that it meant the business owner shared in Sanders beliefs and since she didn’t the business owner did the best thing and politely asked her to leave. With the recent supreme court ruling that Sanders and her party celebrated publicly you’d think that Donald and Mike would be publicly thanking the restraunt owner.

The funds are part of the FDNY World Trade Center Health Program, which was established by the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010, a bill passed by Congress that provides healthcare to first responders who have suffered a range of illnesses from exposure to dust and smoke at Ground Zero.
